Interac e-Transfer is the payment method that is active today. Setup happens per invoice — there is nothing to enable in Settings first. This article covers what you do on every invoice.
Before you begin
Interac e-Transfer must be provisioned for your organization during ATB onboarding. If you cannot see Interac e-Transfer as an option in the invoice form's Payment options section, contact your ATB business banker.
Step 1: Draft an invoice
Create a new invoice or open an existing draft. Scroll to Payment options.
Step 2: Tick Interac e-Transfer
Tick the box. Two fields appear:
- Recipient email — where you (the business) will receive the notification that the payment is coming. This is not the customer's email — that is on the customer record.
- Message to recipient (optional) — a short note that appears with the request. Your invoice number is added automatically, so leave this blank unless you have something specific to add.
Step 3: Save or send
Save the draft or click Send invoice. When you send, ATB Invoicing creates the Interac Money Request and emails the customer.
Per-invoice, not per-customer
Interac configuration is per invoice, not per customer. That means:
- Different invoices for the same customer can use different recipient emails on your side.
- Every invoice needs Interac ticked — it does not carry over from a previous invoice.
If you always want Interac ticked by default for a specific customer, set it on their record under Preferred payment methods.
