ATB Invoicing updates the invoice status automatically when Interac notifies us that something has changed. If the status looks stuck, you can force a refresh manually.
When to refresh
- Your customer says they have completed payment but the invoice still shows Sent or Viewed.
- The status has not updated in over 30 minutes despite the customer confirming.
- You want to double-check before phoning the customer.
Do not refresh compulsively. Interac normally notifies us within seconds of a status change. Refreshing more than once every few minutes is not useful.
Step 1: Open the invoice
Open the invoice you want to check.
Step 2: Click Refresh on the payment method
In the How to pay section on the invoice detail page, click Refresh next to the Interac e-Transfer entry.
Step 3: Wait for the response
ATB Invoicing queries Interac directly. Within a few seconds, the payment method row updates to reflect whatever Interac reports.
If Interac reports a new status (for example Deposit Complete), the invoice status updates too — a Sent or Viewed invoice will move to Paid.
Common outcomes
- Status becomes Paid. The transfer completed. You are done.
- Status stays the same. The customer has not yet completed the transfer. Follow up with the customer.
- Status becomes Declined or Expired. See What happens if a customer's transfer is declined or How long an unpaid Interac request stays open.
