What does "Needs Attention" mean on my dashboard?

The Needs Attention section on your dashboard is a short, prioritized list of quotes and invoices that require action today. It eliminates clutter so you can focus on immediate follow-ups and unfinished work.

What appears in the list

Items surface in this section based on specific statuses:

  • Invoices that need attention:
    • Overdue invoices: Invoices with a status of Sent or Viewed whose due date has passed. These represent your highest collection priority.
    • Viewed invoices (Unpaid): Invoices opened by the customer via their permalink but not yet paid.
    • Draft invoices: Invoices you started but haven't sent yet.
  • Quotes that need attention:
    • Draft quotes: Unsent quotes that need to be completed or delivered.

Note: Sent invoices that are not yet past due, Paid invoices, Accepted/Rejected quotes, and Void documents are intentionally excluded to keep this list strictly actionable.

How the list is ordered

  1. Overdue items come first: Sorted by how far past due they are (most overdue at the top).
  2. Viewed items come next: Sorted by when the customer last opened the link.
  3. Drafts appear last: Sorted by last edit date (oldest drafts at the top so abandoned work gets cleared).

Clearing an item from "Needs Attention"

  • Overdue or viewed invoice:
    • Mark as Paid (or wait for automatic Interac e-Transfer reconciliation) once funds arrive.
    • Mark as Void (or Uncollectible if past 90 days overdue) if the payment cannot be collected.
  • Draft invoice or quote:
    • Finish and Send it to the customer.
    • Delete the document if created by mistake or no longer relevant.
